Hi ALL! Welcome back to another monthly astrological report. We have officially entered Cancer season — the halfway point of the year and the official start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Life is in full bloom, the flowers are blooming after the fresh rain from June, and we are all out trying to make the most of the warmer temperatures.
First lets do a recap of Gemini season: (I haven’t had any time to keep up with any major news stories last month, so will be focussing on the overall themes I noticed):
- MANY people have moved during this month (including myself). My social media feed was full of friends moving or making some major switch up during last month. With last month being the first Gemini season with Uranus in Gemini in our lifetime, it was making us make big faith-leaped moves that will contribute to our evolutional growth
- Around the Sag full moon, I noticed a lot of online and in person discussion with people that were centred around the topic of how hard it is to not know what you can believe anymore. As Gemini has to do with information and knowledge, its opposite sign Sagittarius expands the information into endless streams of rabbit holes — in its effort to decipher meaning. When Jupiter made its year long transit through Gemini during 2024-2025, we were given SO much information about possible scenarios that are happening in the world. Some were valid and others were smoke and mirrors. Ever since, we have been trying to understand what is the truth from the false — which has created a lot of confusion (almost like that was planned….). With Uranus, the planet of chaos, rebellion, sudden and unpredictable change, and innovation, now in the sign of Gemini for the years to come, we are experiencing a further destabilization of the knowledge we thought we knew. I will be making a separate post on this soon.
- We started off the month with exciting (maybe destabilizing) changes happening in our life that we just sort of had to roll with. We don’t know what these changes will bring as it is too soon to predict (and you also can’t predict Uranian influence), but this month will be a pivotal time period to a new start of your journey in the years to come. This was due to the Sun making its first conjunction to Uranus in Gemini cycle that has recently just begun, as well as the square Uranus made to the North Node of souls direction. Whatever fell away is opening you up to something that will challenge you, but also project you forward.
- Mid Gemini season, things got sort of weird. At the start there was sort of a dreamy element in the air — and a lot of excitement in the astrological community about the upcoming Jupiter/Venus conjunction that took place in Cancer. However, many people did NOT experience the full harmony of that aspect. As predicted in my last months astrological report, there was going to be harsh relational conflict come to the surface with the Venus/Saturn square AND the Venus/Chiron square. Not only that, but Jupiter (which expands everything it comes in contact to) has been approaching its square with Chiron (the wounded healer). I notice Jupiter makes it presence known in aspects earlier than other planets, as it is such an expansive gas planet. And with it so close to Venus, it really opened up a lot of unresolved relational wounds in regards to self worth and core needs. So while yes, the Jupiter/Venus conjunction did bring luck and expansion to our relationships, it did so through opening a wound that may have needed to be felt and processed first.
- Mercury was going through Cancer and also made a square to Saturn (the disciplined, cold, and stern teacher) and to Chiron (the wound). Not only were we forced to act out our wounds in some way through relationships to others, but also in our own mind. We have been challenged to feel and communicate our deepest needs and emotions. We may have also been thinking A LOT about the past and childhood — which is ruled by the sign of Cancer. This likely conflicted with the self, as we were moving through Gemini season (the intellectual air sign that does not like to feel its emotions).
- Coming out of this month, we are in a new frame of mind, we had to face unresolved past hurts and betrayals, but are now calling in something entirely new.
- I noticed a lot of talk about and have been noticing myself how podcasters are becoming the new Hollywood. With Uranus moving into Gemini, the way we communicate and receive/share information is evolving. Add in the fact that Pluto is in Aquarius (the collective) (opposing the “Hollywood” sign of Leo), celebrities are taking a new form. Regular Joes can become collective sensations. Technology has, and still is, destroying the gate keeping that Hollywood created. People are caring less about role-play and more about authenticity. People want truth rather than illusions. (This could also be Neptune having moved out of Pisces and into Aries). I read somewhere that you tubers are becoming directors and producers of major films like “Backroom”, where before you had to be a big name to get something on screen. It will be interested to see more of this evolution when Jupiter is in Leo this year and opposing Pluto in Aquarius. It will almost look like the last fight for air of the old Hollywood and the new Hollywood — and we will likely see an award adjustment of current celebrities trying to show more of their authenticity through doing unscripted podcasts.
Cancer Season
Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac and the first of the water signs. We have moved through the birth of the new year
(Aries)(Spring), where we awoke from our winter slumber and back out into the world. We then moved into Taurus, where we re-grounded ourselves, went out to enjoy the nature with all the life coming back and set more of our intentions for the year. And then last month we were out back in the world of socializing, meeting up with or catching up with friends again, catching up on the news of the world, and making the last of the spring changes. Now, we start to nurture our emotional selves.
Cancer represents the deepest parts of our charts (and selves). It represents our roots, where we come from, our inherited traits, connection to family, our home and private lives, and the parts of ourselves and others that we nurture. It is represented by the crab, that takes its home on its back wherever it goes. The crab will normally go into its shell for self preservation, but has no problem defending itself with its pinchers if it feels threatened. It needs to be close to water.
With Cancer being the first of the water signs, it is here to experience and learn how to become fully comfortable and secure in their emotions. It is for this reason that I feel Cancers regularly struggle with mental health issues, because it is learning to regulate their emotions and become secure in themselves. They care the most out of every sign, they are the mother of every group. Because of this, they make great leaders and bosses — as they truly mother the workplace or the home. They are also a cardinal sign, which means the sign signifies the start of the next season (summer). This means they are initiators, they are commonly the person who initiates family gatherings or friend gatherings, they love to bring people together. Most important of all, they NEED to have a comfortable home. Not only need, but they are the ones who create their home wherever they go. You will most likely find these signs at home taking care of their pets, plants, kids, creative projects, and/or whatever they are nurturing to life.
So, this doesn’t come to much surprise that at this time of year, we are traditionally more at home tending to our gardens. There is a lot to keep up with during this time, the grass needs cut often, bushes and trees need pruning, veggies start coming up in the garden and need to be constantly harvested and made into meals. This points to us also being in our kitchen more cooking! Of course, we live in modern times where many people live in the city and don’t have gardens anymore — but even so, people are enjoying the abundance of local veg and fruits coming from the markets, likely having friends over for bbq’s or meals, and of course — SWIMMING in the lakes, pools, and oceans (water sign).
Cancer is the month to FEEL. We may all feel emotionally creative this month. We may want to be home more enjoying our space or being at our friends homes or back yards enjoying meals together. This may be a month to catch up with family members. If your a parent or grandparent to young ones, you are around them much more with the kids getting out of school.
On a macro scale, Cancer represents our home, cities, towns, country, and nationality. There may be many events in your town bringing people together. But also, with the crab influence, we may be more defensive or protective of our home, town, or country. In the larger news, you may see more protective policies being discussed. Talk about building military, protecting against attacks, tightening up security, threats of immigration — these may all be topics that come to the service this month. Especially while Mercury is moving through Cancer still AND about to go retrograde.
You may be wanting to spend more time at home this month. Last month was likely busy being a social Gemini season and you likely drained your social battery. Doing things like cooking, laundry, and cleaning could feel very good for you right now. You crave something to nurture and take care of. If you have a lot of Capricorn in your chart, this season may feel conflicting. Capricorn is the opposite of Cancer, and prefers to be out of the home and providing. The energy will be pulling you in and you may judge yourself for being more lazy (Capricorns love to judge themselves) — or maybe in general you are someone who just has a LOT of things to get done outside of the house. Make sure to just balance both. This month provides a very nourishing time to rebuild internally and fully be in the moment of the most nourishing time of year. Next season is Leo, and we will be back out burning out our energy to enjoy the last of summer!
What is currently happening in the sky? ~
Sun now in Cancer (obviously, that is the centre of this article lol)
Mars is finishing up its transit in Taurus —> which was helping us stand our ground in terms of how we stand up for our values, bodies, and physical needs.
Venus is in Leo —> We may feel more playful in our relationships, passionate, and creative. Lean into that! Venus in Leo is very fun!! Just be mindful of the inner lion that could come out too if pushed in a corner….
Venus will move into Virgo on July 9th —> We start to move towards being more analytical in our relationships and refining our values and needs. This could be a good time to come up with complementary routines or rituals in your relationships, discuss practical matters, improve systems, and organize your collective space. However, be weary of constantly criticizing your partner or trying to make them perfect. Work together.
Mercury in Cancer and about to go retrograde —> I mentioned this above, but we have been and will continue to be forced to think about our past, our emotional needs, how we care for ourselves, and to feel our thoughts rather than just think about them. We may feel more emotionally reactive and emotional in our conversations, especially if we feel like our emotional security is threatened. We may also have higher intuition during this time. While it goes retrograde, expect to revisit even MORE of your past, all that got brought up last month while it squared Chiron (our wounds), we may need to finish emotionally processing it to move forward. Miscommunications will be heightened during this time, especially feeling emotionally triggered. Everyone is experiencing this, so try not to take everything so personal (I know it may feel hard), but a lot of what may sting may just be miscommunications from the retrograde. Avoid moving or signing contracts around homes during this time of the retrograde, as it may backfire. If you must do that, make sure to triple check any contracts before officially signing or making a purchase.
Chiron just moved into Taurus —> After being in Aries for a LONG TIME, we have really had to alchemize our wounds of how we stand up for ourselves and how we go after what WE really want. Now, our wounds around self worth, values, relationships, and our bodies, are what will be bubbling to the surface to address and work through over the next 10 years. This is a preview, as Chiron will move back into Aries again in the fall and fully move into Taurus next year. There is a lot to say about this transit and how it will affect us collectively, especially our food systems, land and earth health, our soil health, and how society views relationships. After going through Aries since 2019, we have seen a SURGE in hyper-independence. Many people were learning how to heal themselves by leaving relationships and learning how to become self-sufficient. Because Aries is an assertive and (somewhat) selfish sign (no hate), relationships really suffered through this period. Now with Chiron moving into Taurus, I feel we will be healing that breakage of bonds, and learning how to integrate ourselves back into relationships in a more interdependent way. Stay tuned for a separate article on this……
Jupiter will move into Leo on June 30th (the day after the full moon in Capricorn) —> Again, I will write a whole separate article on this. This will shift the energy COMPLETELY. It will likely be felt pretty instantaneously as well, as Leo energy is vastly different from that of Cancer. Where Jupiter has been expanding our internal safety and/or highlighting where we do not feel safe or comfortable all year, now it will be expanding our self confidence, creativity, passion, and where we want to shine our light. Just as there may have been many pregnancies with Jupiter in Cancer, there will likely be a lot with Jupiter in Leo (especially if you have this in your 5th house). Leo represents children and/or the inner child. Things will start to feel more playful, and there can be much expansion in your creative endeavours once we move into this year long transit. However, Jupiter is very boisterous and over-indulgent, where Leo can be bold and egotistical, this combination can make people feel like they are on top of the world — so we may see a lot of people more towards narcissistic ways of acting. If you aren’t grounded in what you want to create, and are more self image focussed, you may fall into this trap. If, during the transit of Jupiter in Cancer, you really sat with who you deeply are internally and what you want to create, then this time can be a chance for you to muster the bravery and confidence in acting on that creative project.
However, Jupiter will first make an opposition to Pluto in Aquarius, and that will be challenging! Where Jupiter will want to make bold moves that benefit the self, Pluto is fighting for what is best for the people and the collective. We will likely see egotistical personalities and leaders rise and fall during this time (especially once we move into eclipse seasons).
Major Dates to take note of:
Capricorn Full Moon & Mercury Retrograde in Cancer Begins on June 29th
Jupiter enters Leo June 30th
Mars in Gemini conjunct Uranus in Gemini on July 4th — ** Mars AND Uranus are both planets that can cause major unexpected accidents that can be of violent nature. Interesting that this falls directly on the 4th of July and the 250th birth year of the USA.
Neptune in Aries turns retrograde on July 7th
New Moon in Cancer July 14th
Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius on July 20th —- however it does make a harmonious trine to Neptune in Aries
******Near the end of the month:
“Barbaults Basket”
Between the dates of July 15th and July 21st — a rare configuration, coined the term “Barbaults Basket” by French Astrologer Andre Barbault, will be made between Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini, and Jupiter in Leo all at 4 degrees. This configuration displays all the outer planets and Jupiter making a basket-like formation in one hemisphere of the chart. From textiles to trines to oppositions, it is quite the alignment of planets.
Andre Barbault specified that this configuration will be “the most beautiful configuration of the 21st century” predicting that it would be “a splendid relaunch of civilization”. He states this will be a time where there will be “a promotion of the lower strata of the world population”. He predicted that the standard of living for the poor will rise dramatically and civilization will begin to rebuilt from the crisis we have been put through.
I haven’t had much time to do my own heavy research into this (as much as I would like to!!). However, I watched a GREAT video from “World Astrology Report” (that I will link at the bottom), where he goes into detail on his thoughts of this prediction. I will summarize his thoughts:
He shared that humans regularly think about their immediate surroundings when it comes to terms of if we are in “good” or “bad” times. That because the West may be going through a downfall, we believe that this prediction cannot be true. However, he brings up the good points that we should be thinking in terms of the World as a whole. Bringing into perspective that the global south is actually going through an economic comeback after being put in the 3rd world category for far too long. That perhaps the downfall of the West and the economic climb of the global south is actually the readjustment process happening on a much larger scale.
He also discusses the Hellenistic astrologer “Claudius Ptolomy”, and how this astrologer wrote about astrological signs that are in short ascension and long ascension. Stating that in the Northern Hemisphere, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, and Gemini are sort ascension signs; while Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius are long ascension signs. This is determined by the length of time these signs take to cross over the eastern horizon. He believed that if planets are making a trines to each other in signs of short ascension, that it can actually act as a square. This “Barbaults Basket” formation happening at the end of Cancer season, is happening all in short ascension signs.
“World Astrology Report” comments on this and adds that just because planets make a trine or sextile to each other, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be magical for all of us. That there have been times in history such as the pact made between the Nazis and Soviets where there have been a trine between Pluto and Uranus. That for the world it wasn’t actually a good thing, but for those people involved it was for them.
I found this video to be very educational and informative on how we look at aspects in astrology. As astrologers it can be easy to get information fatigue, getting overwhelmed by the constant knowledge that is to be learned and upgraded in the art of learning astrology. It can be easy to sometimes fall into pit-holes by looking at an aspect and summarizing it as “harmonius” or “harsh”, I even do this myself. This video was a good reminder that we should always be trying to read deeper into the aspects in order to try to understand them and become more accurate in our predictions.
Personally, I believe we are going through a complete reshape of humanity as we know it — as all these outer planet alignments and mini grand trines point towards that. We also don’t need the astrology to know this, as we can feel it, our human make up and DNA is changing and becoming more awakened. I really resonated with The World Astrology Report and how he brought the entire world into perspective on how these changes are taking place. To take the West out of the centre of the world and to view it as a whole. For example: access to technology world wide is helping the poor to rise out of their current circumstances where they may not have had that opportunity before. Anyone can learn anything they want with having access to the internet, so gatekeeping over education is being triumphed by the internet and AI. And while there are still pit-falls in that, like misinformation and glitches, we can’t deny that these changes are re-shaping hierarchal structures in ways that we all can’t really see yet. Whatever changes this heavily talked about “Barbaults Basket” alignment may bring in, it will likely involve AI and technology in some format for the transformations that will take place.
** Stay tuned for separate articles on both the Full Moon in Capricorn and the New Moon in Cancer ——> Apologize for missing the Gemini New Moon as I was moving during it!!
Health and Wellness:
Cancer represents the stomach, breasts, and womb — the bodies containers. Because it is ruled by the Moon, it has a lot to do with our fluid system and our emotions. It has a big component on how we are digesting our emotions and our surroundings.
Cancers are very prone to psychosomatic conditions, where unprocessed emotions will manifest physically. Issues like digestive problems, fluid retention and hormone issues, and emotional stress are the key issues likely seen with heavy Cancer placements. Breast Cancer is often prevalent as well, as unprocessed emotions can often be stored within the breast tissue.
How to balance:
- breast and lymphatic massages. Where Pisces has more to do with the lymphatics related to immune system, Cancer is more lymphatics related to emotional states. Physically massaging breasts, stomach, and womb could be of great benefit to move stagnant emotions within these tissues.
- WATER. When heavy emotions rise (which they will during this month that is ruled by the Moon), go to the water. Bring your emotions there. Swim. Take a bath. Anything water related. And drink plenty of water.
- Don’t fight the feeling of wanting to be home. Honour that. Cook nourishing meals, surround yourself with people that nourish you and make you feel safe and comfortable, spend time out in your garden or in nature. Allow yourself to have that down time. Even if that means only an hour a day — or having to get up earlier to have that time for yourself.
- Spend 15 mins a day just being present with your emotions. This is a month where old childhood wounds may resurface and you may feel more sensitive than normal. Don’t ignore it, and don’t succumb to the overwhelm either — just be present, feel it, and move it through.
- Do something creative. Cancers are naturally very creative people. They love to nurture something into being. Honour that in whatever way resonates with you.
Herbs:
- Diuretics can be helpful for fluid retention — dandelion leaf, horsetail, cleavers (great for Cancer sign!), shatavari
- Stomach Herbs: marshmallow root and slippery elm for soothing the stomach and digestion (especially if there are things like gastric ulcers or GERD). Carminatives like fennel seed, lavender (great for the mood and anxiety as well), chamomile, ect can be great for bloating and digestive spasms.
- Energetics: Mugwort (traditionally ruled by the Moon but also Venus) is great at supporting digestion, calming down the body, and supporting processing our emotions through dreamwork. It is a “womb tonic”, helping to clear stagnant energy of the womb. Motherwort is another great energetic womb herb and can also help support anxious states— especially mothers or people dealing with mother wounds
Questions to ponder this month:
In what ways can I make myself feel more at home within my body and where I am already?
What relationships make me feel supported and safe? What ones make me tense up and fear?
How is my relationship with members of my family? Can I get closer with those who I have become disconnected with? Do I need to create healthy boundaries with others to feel safer?
What is my relationship with home? Do I spend enough time at home tending to loving it? Is there a project you have been wanting to do at home that you keep putting off and maybe have the time to pursue this month?
How do I nourish myself? What meals can I make that satisfy my digestion and make me feel nourished? How do I speak to myself on a daily basis? Can I be more loving towards myself and therefore others? What is one small ritual a day that I could create that makes me feel taken care of?
Have I told my family how much I love them recently?
